For many young emerging artists, Italy means the most sought after goal, the country to study in to make their dreams come true and be on the world stages.
This growing desire of Italian music is even stronger among young Chinese generations who come from the Far East to complete their studies and strengthen their talents.
Modena in particular is the city of “belcanto” and counts among its citizens Pavarotti and Mirella Freni.
Many ambitious students come to this city wishing to study here and to follow valued suggestion from leading international figures: such is the case of the Corsi di alto perfezionamento promoted by Fondazione Teatro Comunale di Modena and Regione Emilia-Romagna, with financial support from European Social Fund.
Just to mention a few names of the 2019 teachers: Leone Magiera, Pavarotti’s life-long music assistant and pianist; Mariella Devia, one of the finest Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini performer,; Nicola Martinucci, a tenor, at Met, Covent Garden, Scala e Vienna opera, nowadays appeciated for his masterclass Michele Pertusi, who debuted in 1984 in Modena and later bacame one of the most famous singers in the world.
